March 5, 20206 yr I was copying a file onto my server to SSD cache and noticed the speed jumping from 115MB/s down to 30MB/s and back constantly throughout the entire process Whilst checking netdata, it would appear than when the reads are low on the drive, the write speed is high and when the reads are high, the write speed plummets Is this indicative of SATA3 SSD simply being bandwidth starved (shown by disk utilisation being almost 100%) , and potentially something nVME would solve with its hugely increased IOPS? My SSD contains appdata (around 15 dockers), docker image and a single Windows Server 2019 VM Just a thought, i could be well off, but something must explain the massively fluctuating transfer speeds You can see in the Netdata snips below, the up and downs of the transfer. Interesting! Edited March 5, 20206 yr by sdamaged
