February 21, 201115 yr In my experience, Rsync on 10.5-10.6 is broken, so doesn't work as expected. You're better off using the latest beta with TimeMachine.
February 22, 201115 yr Can try this: http://linux4research.blogspot.com/2008/07/howto-backup-your-mac-with-rsync.html. It should work if you first mount your backup share. If you want to use the rsync package in unmenu you'll have to modify it and start the rsync daemon in your go file. I have not tried this so YMMV.
