March 21, 20206 yr Hello everyone, today I am trying to use Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD in the pfSense-VM implementation. The main purpose is to use HUB to add a gigabit network physical interface on the HUB and apply it to pfSense as a WAN network interface. My current host has only one onboard gigabit network port, which cannot allow me to use pfSense for PPPoE dial-up. . So, I made a lot of attempts, hoping that the gigabit network port on this HUB could be used by pfSense, but it failed in the end. I'm not sure if unRaid itself can support the network interface function of Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD. My setup method: Network switch ---- unRaid motherboard network interface LAN----unRaid <PC> ---- USB3.1 ---- USB-C cable ---- <Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD> Thunderbolt interface ---- WAN <The Belkin Hub Ethernet> ---- unRaid pfSense-VM ---- PPPoE to Internet unRaid settings: Create pfSense-VM Add a second Network Bridge, select USB Devices: ✓Belkin Components (Because br1 cannot be selected, the default is br0. So there are two br0) pfSense failed to boot and stayed at the Boot "|" symbol. So, I also tried other routing firmware and it showed, actually. The second Network Bridge added, in other routing firmware, is just a virbr0 virtual network interface. The network interface of the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD is still not actually recognized as a physical network port by the routing firmware. This is my experience and attempts, I wonder if anyone else does this? Does unRaid have a solution for this? Without adding a PCI-E network card, let the network interface of Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD work for pfSense-VM-WAN? Thank you all for your help Adam Edited March 21, 20206 yr by adamli
