Bridge / Host / br0

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

First post so be kind. Infra engineer who's new to UR as of two weeks ago, v impressed with maturity and scope of the project, love the possibilities.

Need to understand more about the network config side of things. I have network options and whilst i have a grasp of some I feel I'm missing some really fundamental points. To summarize, what are the definitions of:

'Bridge'

'Host'

'br0'

particularly the first and the last!

Many thanks for helping a newb

Yo, my understanding is

Host has direct access to the hosts networking, so to eth0

Bridge is done by mapping ports with br0, which is your bridge (if its enabled) and is what allows us to use dockers and VM's on eth0 and also give them their own IP addresses.

I could be wrong doe xD
