what do these io errors i get mean

Recommended Posts

so I recheked  let it run for like 2 hours as I had other things to do..  so those errors are not there...  but I see couple other errors.. and I also show when it boots up there is some data verifying and errors around it but what is that?.. also I just decided to check my sisters unraid.. and its spouting warnings and errors.. maybe you can tell me whats going on with hers..  last time I check it had no errors just the like regular 10 warnings but now I seen its gone haywire

maybe her diagnostic can show anything

also  in the image I sent the 2 xfered. is that the 2 usb hard drives I have plugged in  is it doing a SMART check there?

and what is that error

print_req_error    I don't have a printer hooked up  or is that my one external hard drive that has issues the 2 tb seagate

dev sda is the flash drive. Since the logs filled up and rotated with those message from the Unassigned Device can't tell much else about that. Do you have a current backup of flash?

I googled chkdsk  unraid  I guess there is no chkdsk for ntfs in unraid

unless I can setup a VM   I guessing to run windows   but I don't think I can on her mini server hmm

The reason I use NTFS on UD is specifically so I can take that disk to a Windows machine.

Why are you using NTFS on UD if there is no windows computer available to you?

its a portable hard drive  so when I back up her old computer  through my windows machine  and fill the drive..  due to the speed of internet  a drive 1 hour meet half way is faster then uploading a month or more to transfer 2TB of data at a 5mbps/down  400kbs/upload connection   so uploading both ends is soo darn slow.. if it even stays connected..  as I was cleaning up old hard drives.. as windows  Desktop does not offer xfs or Btrfs that you can simply plug a hard drive in..  plus I back up my important photos home videos to the hd  and meet half way so its easier that way when you plug it in and out .

so every 2 weeks  to a month I visit half way to see my sister and she gives back hard drive and  I back up her files here..  so we both have in the end both servers have back ups of our files  important documents etc..

and her unraid cant do vms 😞

that's what I said I do

I drive 1 hour to meet her half way since she lives  littler over 2 hour drive

so she drives and hour and I drive an hour.. and meet half way to transfer files... as I don't drive 2 hours 1 way every week or so  to back up her files etc.

so I guess no check disk for unassigned drives then...  guess ill have to run the drive when I bring it home

was hoping she had vms     and or unraid supported a check disk for unasigned drives but guess not.. least I know all those errors in the sys log are just the hard drive then.... I appreciate It you narrowing it down for me

time for a new hard drive lol
