Adding on from my previous post, I wanted to access to other machines in my home network that I can't install tailscale on (IP cameras, etc). To solve for this, I made sure the "Network Type" was set

I have a few questions about the plugin:

1: What is proper setup for the taildrop file location, is something like this acceptable?

/mnt/user/Downloads/TailDrop/

2. should i be concerned about any of these errors:

Running pre-startup script
Enabling IP Forwarding
net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1
net.ipv6.conf.all.forwarding = 1
Stopping tailscaled.
Starting tailscaled: /usr/local/sbin/tailscaled
logger: send message failed: Bad file descriptor

/usr/local/emhttp/plugins/tailscale/update-settings.sh: line 53: tailscale: command not found
tailscale set --accept-routes=false
/usr/local/emhttp/plugins/tailscale/update-settings.sh: line 70: tailscale: command not found
tailscale set --accept-dns=true
Running post-startup script

Are you using the plugin or the docker container? You say plug-in. This is for the container not the plug-in

The WebUI of all my dockers does not open. Is there anything else I need to change?

I need some help.  I'm an Unraid noob trying to get remote access to the webgui for my Unraid server.  I've installed Tailscale on the Unraid server, a local PC on the same network, and a laptop which is about 1,000 miles remote.  I can ping each machine from each machine successfully.  I have installed ProFTPd on the Unraid server and can use Filezilla successfully on the remote laptop to FTP files to/from the Unraid server.

But, when I enter the Tailscale-provided IP address (100.126.xxx.xx) in my browser, I get the following message:  "100.126.xxx.xx refused to connect."  I feel like I'm missing something simple, but I cannot figure it out.  Any help would be appreciated.

@dsmith44for the past few months i have been unable to connect to the unraid server page i can connect to any other docker port and ping the tailscale ip on the server just not 80 or 443, this is happening on both my servers any ideas? i have tried turning on and off magic dns that did nothing.

thanks in advance for the reply

PS. when i disable the docker and install the plugin it works also the docker is still on 1.42 with force update

i have the same issue there is a plugin now instead of this docker switch to it till its fixed.

That did the trick!  Thanks so much!

Hello,

I've been looked into tailscale logs and it is constantly logging this

image.thumb.png.b7cd6e0d36596ee4628b419dcd806f4b.png

Is this normal? Logs should be somewhat meaningful to highlight issues and not have only same messages in them...

I am having an issue with the Tailscale Docker. All of my containers are accessible through IP & magicDNS, however my unraid WebUI does not resolve with neither Tailscale IP nor magicDNS. This issue also extends to SMB -- I am unable to access files on the server through Tailscale.

Let's clear a couple of things up.

I have never provided the support for this really, I did this to scratch my own itch when there was no tailscale for unraid. I will continue to update this while it is used.

So I haven't changed what I'm doing, I've only ever updated versions.

Other kind folk have supported people using it, with occasional input from me if I have time.

Now that there is a plugin you are totally within you rights to use that, and indeed I will likely be updating the front page of this to suggest that unless you are using tailscale to do funky fun things with groups of docker containers you probably should.

for some reason i cant connect to port 80 (unraid web gui) from a node to my servers anymore. everything else like ARRS and all other dockers i can access. (running docker version)

edit: for some reason i didnt read the updates to unraid notes all the way tru. Solution:

https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/release-notes/6.12.0/#network-improvements

Well I was only using it to connect to my dockers and and update broke it. I asked for ideas and got nothing so I pointed people with the same issue to the plugin. My problem is I now how a remote client I can't fix till I fly over now since the updates don't fix it

Hi.

I have updated the top of this post to indicate that people should now use the plugin in almost all circumstances. It's just a better user experience for most use cases.

I will continue to update this for at least the next six months, and longer of people are using it for reasons that the plugin cannot support such as private docker networks. If you are using it for something else please do let me know in advance. Also if anyone else wants to jump in to help, it's super simple, please let me know.

At this point I will not answer any support questions for access to unraid over this container, please use the plugin, it's better, even I'm using it. Well I may asnwer them, just to point people to the plugin.

I'd like to thans all those that have helped support people since I set this up, which was initially just because I wanted tailsacle for myself, I wasn't expecting so many people to use it.

Instead of giving access to all your docker container, can we expose only specific container?

Hi,
newbie question:

I am running tailscale in docker and it works quite fine. Only weird thing for me is that when I am connecting to server via tailscale I am automatically logged in into Unraid. Should it work like this or it's issue with configuration? How to change it?

Please use the plugin. This is only for use in specialist cases now.

However there is nothing to automatically log you in provided by tailscale so issue will be elsewhere.
