April 12, 20206 yr Community Expert I have 2 NVME devices, which mount well as UD. I also have a USB hub attached and can see all 5 devices. One is not formatted, so I cannot do anything with it, one mounts well, but the remaining 3 cannot be mounted. Any thoughts? I am attaching the diagnostic log. Thanks! tower-diagnostics-20200412-1728.zip
April 12, 20206 yr Community Expert This is unfortunately typical with most multi bay USB enclosures, all devices have the same serial number: Apr 12 16:32:14 Tower unassigned.devices: Disk with serial 'USB3.0_DISK00_20170331000C3', mountpoint 'External_USB30_DISK00' is not set to auto mount and will not be mounted. Apr 12 16:32:14 Tower unassigned.devices: Disk with serial 'USB3.0_DISK02_20170331000C3', mountpoint 'External_USB30_DISK02' is not set to auto mount and will not be mounted. Apr 12 16:32:14 Tower unassigned.devices: Disk with serial 'USB3.0_DISK03_20170331000C3', mountpoint 'External_USB30_DISK03' is not set to auto mount and will not be mounted. Apr 12 16:32:14 Tower unassigned.devices: Disk with serial 'USB3.0_DISK01_20170331000C3', mountpoint 'External_USB30_DISK01' is not set to auto mount and will not be mounted. Apr 12 16:32:14 Tower unassigned.devices: Disk with serial 'USB3.0_DISK04_20170331000C3', mountpoint 'External_USB30_DISK04' is not set to auto mount and will not be mounted. Because of this only one will work with Unraid, since it requires valid serial numbers to keep track of the devices.
April 12, 20206 yr Author Community Expert Thanks. Initially it was working though (only stopped after I changed disks). Isn't the serial different as it has different disk numbers?

April 12, 20206 yr Author Community Expert Got it. Any idea how I succeeded to have all 5 disks mounted before? Same USB hub.
April 12, 20206 yr Community Expert Taking another look it see UD is mounting them, and they are all al mounted: /dev/sdn1 5.5T 5.5T 43G 100% /mnt/disks/External_USB30_DISK04 /dev/sdk1 5.5T 5.5T 23G 100% /mnt/disks/External_USB30_DISK01 /dev/sdl1 5.5T 5.5T 27G 100% /mnt/disks/External_USB30_DISK02 /dev/sdr1 5.5T 5.5T 25G 100% /mnt/disks/External_USB30_DISK03 /dev/sdj1 5.5T 5.5T 29G 100% /mnt/disks/External_USB30_DISK00 But there are a lot of i/o and filesystem errors and apparently the disks disconnected and re-connected with a different letter, try rebooting, but that doesn't look like a reliable way to use those disks.
April 12, 20206 yr Author Community Expert I guess I may have caused them by believing that you can "how swap" them while mounted? Will restart later and will see how it goes.

You can never hot-swap a mounted disk, hot swap it to avoid powering down the server, you just remove the disk while the server is on, but never while mounted.
