Let me say that I think this would be a very bad idea, but.. Could the parity drive be used to save 2 files on the disk in the same disk space? ie with the aid of the parity drive, you could save 2tb of uncompressed data on a 1tb drive. The parity drive would untangle the mess to extract the actual file. File security I imagine would be about as safe as raid0. Or probably worse. I would imagine the margin for error would be high. itimpi Posted April 13, 2020 Share Posted April 13, 2020 It sounds as if you do not understand how parity works The parity drive has no concept of data, it just knows how to ensure any particular bit on a drive is either correct or not. You might want to read this section from the online manual to get a better understanding of parity. Quote Link to comment
