April 13, 20206 yr Hello, My unraid server is currently in a phase where parts seems to struggle (SSD just died a few days ago) and for my current use the HW just isn't that great any longer. It's a 7 year old server i made just for storage, then I added plex, and put a VM up and now running a minecraft server too. So I'm going down a path where I use it more than I'd ever imagine I would. Anyways, as I live in Norway it's very hard to come by server parts so I've been doing my best at finding what I think will work, but before I decide to molest my wallet I definitely need to consult with someone that actually know these stuffs and can give me some heads-up. Knowing if it's compatible with unraid, or if there's any known issues etc... These are the parts that I consider buying; CPU: Ryzen 3900x MoBo: ASRock Rack X470D4U2-2T Ram: KSM26ED8/16ME x4 (Kingston DDR4 2666MHz 16GB ECC) M.2: Samsung EVO 970 Pluss 500gb (Already have from old gaming pc) HDD: WD Red 8TB x6 (From previous server) PSU: Corsair RM850 (Already have from old gaming pc) For the server rack: (Here I'm lost and damn near impossible to find parts that's A) In stock B) Ships to Norway) Floor Cabinet: Toten G6818GM 4U Chassie: Inter-Tech 4U-4416 (Extreme overkill but couldn't really find what I was looking for) UPS: Powerwalker VI 1200 RLE Disk Controller: LSI SAS 9305-16e +switch, patchpanel, other accessories... According to Inter-Tech they recommend LSI SAS 9305-16e in order to use the backplane, so didn't see options here. And these cables; Sata to SAS SFF 8087 So are there any parts that doesn't go well together? Compatibility issues with unraid? Bad choice of components? Brain dead build? Any help is greatly appreciated Edit: Would it be ok to put my 2080ti in this for transcoding? (Will swap for 3080ti in my gaming rig when it releases). Edited April 13, 20206 yr by Mokkisjeva
