My hardware is everything in this list (plus more harddrives at this point) https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/halorrr/saved/#view=qgqNNG

Over the past few months, I will randomly have days where I wake up to error emails from my server and the parity drive disabled.

For instance last night I got this series of 4 emails:

**** parity (WDC_WD80EMAZ-00WJTA0_2TKWPK4D) is disabled ****

I have no idea why this keeps happening, especially with it being overnight (typically in the early hours of the morning) when I'm not using the server and likely no one else is either. Each time it has happened, I've gotten things back to normal by:

  • Restarting the server
  • Stopping the array when it comes back online
  • Removing the parity drive from the array
  • Starting the array
  • Stopping the array
  • Re-adding the parity drive to the array
  • Starting the array

This rebuilds and usually holds me over from anywhere from a few days to a few weeks before it happens again. Any help on how I can get this to stop happening would be great.

Problem with the onboard SATA controller:

Apr 13 05:18:02 Cerberus kernel: ahci 0000:03:00.1: Event logged [IO_PAGE_FAULT domain=0x0000 address=0x3ec7d037ceeb3a00 flags=0x0010]

This is rather common with Ryzen boards, there are some reports that upgrading to v6.9-beta1 helps, likely because of the much newer kernel.

I'll give that a shot! Thanks!
