April 18, 20206 yr So i had a hdd die (8tb). So i installed a new 3 TB drive and copied all the data off the emulated drive to the new 3 TB drive effectively making the dead drive empty. However the only way to remove the drive without replacing it is to do a new config. If i do this will it corrupt the parity forcing a new check? IE disk 3 is no longer disk 3 disk 3 died and the new disk 3 is now what disk 4 was....
April 18, 20206 yr Community Expert New Config will rebuild parity unless you tell it not to. And you MUST rebuild parity in this case.
