Issue with ECS A740GM-M Mainboard

Featured Replies

I am installing an ECS A740GM-M mainboard. It all works good but I can not get the Realtek RTL8103EL LAN card to speed up to 1000. I have tried forcing it manually by typing "ethtool -s eth0 speed 1000" with no positive results. When I query it with "ethtool eth0" it posts support for 10/100 but if I visit the card manufacturer or the Mainboard manufacturer, it is posted as an 10/100/1000 card. I think this is a driver issue but I rather have some of you more experienced guys give me a hint.\

Help will be very much appreciated...

You could try booting a different "live" distribution of linux to see if it sees more than a 10/100 interface.  Could be it is defective or a slightly different model that does not support 1000Mb/s.

Are you using the onboard NIC?  Someone else ran into the same thing

Thanks...

Now it makes more sense... I will most likely change the MB for a different one... No issue... Thanks... ;D
