padapada
I have been reading the forums with great interest and tried to get a good parts list out of all the threads :-) Requirements: - Low power - 6 drives - Media streaming - Time machine backup for macbookpro. Will upgrade to new Unraid when AFP support becomes available. - Dedicated NAS, no extra software like sabnzb. The parts list: Board: Supermicro X7SPA-HF Case: Lian Li PC-Q08B PSU: Seasonic s12ii 380w RAM: Kingston HyperX KHX5300S2LLK2/4G Unraid: unraid plus USB Flash: Corsair Flash Voyager 5GB Drives: 6x WD32EARS, jumper on pin 7 and 8 Do you see any problems with this list? burtjr
The only possible issue I see is the memory. I am not sure if this board is included in this, but Supermicro boards are notoriously picky about the ram. I would go with something on their vendors list. Link to comment

I know the RAM works with the board: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=5133.msg63237#msg63237 and the Hynix RAM is double the price... Patrick Link to comment
Chuck
What does the HF offer that the H does not? Link to comment
padapada
What does the HF offer that the H does not? Integrated IPMI 2.0 Some sort over kvm/management protocol over IP. People in the Supermicro X7SPA-HF thread are very happy with it. Patrick Link to comment
Chuck
Thanks, I will do some reading on it. Headless boxes with a remote console are my favorite. Link to comment
burtjr
I have IPMI on my x8sil-f board and love it. It gives you complete access to the server as if you are on a local keyboard. I love this feature. Link to comment
