[SOLVED] Linux Guest GPU Passthrough Issues

Recommended Posts

Is there a code 43 type issue with the Linux nvidia drivers as well? Nouveau works fine, I get display can finish GUI install, play videos, general use etc but the proprietary drivers have better gaming performance. Once I install the proprietary driver though, I just get a black screen once I get past bootloader. GPU is a 1080ti in the primary slot, vbios dumped and passed though. I'm trying to install on Manjaro but I'm downloading POP_OS right now since the live installer has the driver baked in to see if that works at all.

Just wondering if I need to add the vendor ID To the XML or something with linux guests as well (since hyper-v is windows specific anyways I assumed adding that to the XML would be pointless from the get go)

Same story on Pop_OS as well. No GPU output once the nividia proprietary driver loads.
Nothing in the VM log
Here's my XML

Just now, Carbongrip said:

Yeah I think you need to use the Code 43 workaround on Linux as well if you want to use Nvidia Drivers on non quadro cards.

Thanks! I just... pasted the features tab from my windows 10 XML and lo and behold it worked. Manjaro loaded proprietary driver fine and I'm typing this post from it now.
Damn I hate nvidia sometimes. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though. The hyper-v specific terminology tripped me up.
