December 31, 201015 yr Hello everyone, I just installed unMenu and installed the mail and SSMTP plugin as I would like to get the notification e-mails if something goes wrong with my server. I have my own domain, and use google apps for e-mail. I created an e-mail address for unRaid to use, but I keep getting an authorization failed message when attempting to send the test e-mail. Here is the message I receive: [<-] 535 5.7.1 http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14257 t1sm23903340ano.23 ssmtp: Authorization failed (535 5.7.1 http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14257 t1sm23903340ano.23) I tried to set this up with my normal gmail account and received the same error. Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
January 2, 201115 yr After you clicked "Save New Values" did you click the "re-install" button at the top of the package window? From what I can tell, every time you change a value you have to re-install with the new values set.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance! It depends... from previous users posts we know that spaces and some special characters in passwords are not handled well in ssmtp. Does your have anything like " or ' or a space in it? Whenever you re-install with new values a new ssmtp.conf file is saved to your server. To see its contents type: cat /usr/local/etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf Joe L.

From what I can tell, every time you change a value you have to re-install with the new values set. This was the issue... I didn't see the button to re-install it after making the changes. Thank you both for your time.
September 25, 201411 yr Even if you disable 2-step, you might still have problems, as I did, authenticating. There is an option in Gmail Security settings which is "Access for less secure app". You need to make sure that is enabled. At your own risk.
