plantsandbinary Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 (edited) I've managed to update my server's BIOS with a USB flashing utility. After inserting the USB the BIOS updated automatically. However there are some other pieces of hardware that also have firmware updates, e.g the network adapter, RAID controller and iLO module. To update these, I have a choice of downloading the windows (.exe) installers or Linux (.rpm) packages. I opted for Linux packages but it seems that Unraid doesn't have rpm installed, nor any package manager either. Upon further looking, it seems that the only other person who asked this question was told that it would be a huge feat to get .rpm packages installed on Unraid's Slack distro. So what is the best way to do this? Should I fire up a Windows VM and install the packages from there. Would that even work? EDIT: I just tried the VM idea, it doesn't work. The installers all say the hardware isn't present on the system... Any other ideas? Edited May 2, 2020 by plantsandbinary Quote
