Strange behaviour of messing up Filesystem using specific Apps

Featured Replies

Hi all,

first i would say Hi to all of you, i'm using Unraid for over half a year now and found a lot of support in this Forum! Thanks for that! But now i have a problem i could not solve with my semi-knowledge about Linux und Filepermissions.

Every time i write to my array with two specific application (Namely Corel Draw 7 and a App I'm using for my Business, this one is literally real crappy) the Folder permissions are messed up. The standsard folder Permission is a 777 (dwrxwrxwrx) after i accessed the array with one of this apps the permission changes to a 770 (dwrxwrx---+). After that happens i use chmod 777 to fix permissions omn the directories. The strange thing is not only the written directorie itself is changed, all directories above it are changed too.

Example:

Storing a file in SHARE/dir1/dir2/dir3 will not only change permissions on dir3, it also does with dir1 and dir2.

This happens only with the two mentioned apps. Access via Windows Explorer Works fine. Testet MS Outlook too, werks as well. Storing with MS Word works too, no flaws.

What else i recognized was that some long stored Word Files could not be openend in Word. They cause Word to crash when i try to open them off the array. After copying them to my local disk they work fine. After copieing them back to the array they still open as intended in Word without crash.

Could there be a problem with filecorruption? Or sonething else? Any Ideas?
