HW recommendation

Featured Replies

Hi,

I would like to ask you for HW recommendation for my home server.

My existing NAS Synology DS411j (running by 3x 2TB HDD) is not working smoothly (long loading times, actualizations etc.), so I have to unistall all my plugins. I know, that I can buy product like Synology or QNAP, but it hasn´t good value for that money.

So would like to build PC/home server not only as NAS, but also for other purposes below.

I actualy have three "boxes" - RPi3B+ for Home Assistant, Khadas VIM2 Max for Kodi/Coreelec and Synology, so I would like to have everything in one box (if possible).

I read many forums and topics and I decided to buld it based on unRaid.

I would like to connect my home server to ma TV (so it should be qiuet and also with as small as possible power consumption). I would like to handle these programs - Home Assistant (with a lot of addons and integrations - Unifi controller, AdGuard/PiHole etc), Plex server and simple virtualization running Ubuntu, so I can browse web on TV, KODI (h265 acceleration) and if possible also playing games on PPSSPP. KODI and PPSSPP is not a must, but it will be nice bonus.

I know, that my requirements are specific, so if you think it´s better to use more devices, your advise will welcome.

Thank you in advance for all your comments and recommendations.

Thx&regards

M.
