May 6, 20206 yr Hard disk identification is shorter in new system being migrated to than old system. So unraid (6.8.3) will not match the drives. Example parity was in old rig as st10000vm0004-1zd101_... and new system lists it as st10000vm0004-1z_... How can I override this or fix the issue? New system is a dell r720 with h310 mini raid controller. Thank you.
May 6, 20206 yr Community Expert Make careful note of how the disks should be assigned. Then go to Tools - New Config and it will let you assign any disks any way you want. Check the box saying parity is already valid. Make very sure you don't assign a data disk to the parity slot. And just in case it offers, don't check a box to Format anything.

Thank you very much, I see why it was recommended to take a photo of the array before shutting down the old rig to migrate. The help page I was following just said "make adjustments to the array if necessary." Now because of your guidance I understand what they meant. Thank you for your help!
