January 2, 201115 yr Running into issues with the getting the card installed without problems. I tried both the x16 and the x8 card slots. Both give me the same problem upon boot up Unraid only shows like 6 of my 12 drives. I'm only trying to install the card with no cables or drives attached to it. Could that be my problem or should I look elsewhere?
January 2, 201115 yr So you have 12 drives in the server right now? If so you are going to have to get some of the cables to hook the drives up to the card. If you already have the cables then you may not have the correct ones. Give us a little more information and we should be able to help.
January 2, 201115 yr Author Yes I do have 12 drives currently installed. 8 onboard sata plus 4 hooked to RRosewill RC-217 SATA II 4 Port RAID 0/1/5/10 PCI RAID Card. I dont have the cables as of yet. Do I need the cable to just check the card?? As it sits now when the card is in either x8 or x16 slot unraid fails to see what is normally working fine.
January 3, 201115 yr Ok, I was trying to figure out how ou had 12 drives already hooked up, and just wanted to make sure I had the correct information. It sounds like the Supermicro card and the Rosewill card are probably not playing together very nicely. To confirm this I would get one cable for the Supermicro card, hook some drives to it, pull the Rosewill card and boot the server. It is more than likely that some of the drives will be detected in a different order and the array will not start. Do not panic, just check to see if they are there. If it does indeed work then it is more than likely the Rosewill and Supermicro cards are not playing nice together.
January 7, 201115 yr Author Bought these cables http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180598809500&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_500wt_1158 Put the card in my x8 slot, moved my cache drive to the supermicro card, turned the computer on. assigned drives to the proper slots, array started, transfered 30 gigs under windows vista sustained 50.4 MB. mission complete. now have 20 drive capability.
