CrashnBrn
Hi Guys, I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but this tip has been working for me thus far. This command stops Apple computers from creating .DS_Store files when browsing network drives. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1629 Quote Link to comment
starcat
But a lot of others remain, like ._<filename>, .AppleDouble, etc... HFS+ has extended resource forks associated with files and writes those in ._files in case the underlying filesystem don't support those natively. .DS_Store is however solely for the Finder (colors, size of that respective folder)... By deleting those you are sacrificing Mac OS X functionality. Like you can rename a file in the Finder and an associated Application will still find its source (thanks to .DS_Store). Seriously, there is no point in deleting those, maybe the only exception files being produced on a Mac to be used with Win computers exclusively. Quote Link to comment
prostuff1
I have stopped them from being create from my computer for Network shares. I also created a script that is installable via unMenu for deleting these "normally hidden" files. Quote Link to comment
