6 pin to 8 way 15 pin Sata Power cable

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a mead in a 6 pin pcie to 8 way 15 pin Sata power connector? I’d like to connect my pool (8 drives) in one of the available 3 PSU slots. The other is connected to the chassis fan. The other slot I’d like to connect up two additional SSDs to add to the cache.

My PSU has 3 6 pin and 2 8 pin. Is there a better way of connecting these up?

6 / 8 pin PCIe power jacks do not have either 5V or 3.3V on them which SATA power contains.  You would have to splice into either the molex connectors or existing sata molex to get those voltages (the 3.3 isn't particularly needed).

What you definitely do not want to do is run splitter after splitter after splitter to make a single molex / sata connector into 8 of them.

If your power supply is modular, then your best route is to contact the manufacturer of it to grab extra sata power runs and use them in place of the 6 / 8 pin (or in place of any existing molex runs)
