can't get a Video Output from my GPU

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

i'm using Unraid since yesterday and can't get a single frame out of it. I watched many Tutorials (from spaceinvadeone) about how to passthrough a GPU but nothing works the GPU gets reconized but no still Video Output. And by the way i also can't turn off Hyper-V :c

My System:

Ryzen 7 2700

Asus strix oc 1060 6GB

16GB Ram

2x 1TB HDD

1x 120GB SSD

<rom file='/mnt/user/V-Bios/Asus.GTX1060.6144.180129_1.rom'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x05' function='0x0' multifunction='on'/> </hostdev> <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <driver name='vfio'/> <source> <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x07' slot='0x00' function='0x1'/> </source> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x05' function='0x1'/>

Is there anybody who can help me?

*sorry for my bad english xD

I think we need more information from you to troubleshoot this:

  • IOMMU groups (Tools -> System Devices)
  • OS you are trying to install
  • The full VM template XML configuration
  • Your current Unraid boot mode with parameter (Main->Flash->Syslinux Configuration)

In order to pass-through the graphics card, you need to take it away from Unraid. How did you do this? Was your system able to boot when you blacklisted the card?

From what I can tell your CPU has no integrated GPU and when your system does not boot when blacklisting the GTX 1080 you might not be able to pass it through to a VM.

In addition to the 4 things in the post above, you also need to provide details on how you got the rom file. On TechPowerUp, there are 2 different versions of the STRIX OC as well.

It's a pretty common new user mistake to get the wrong vbios. The only way to be sure you have the right file is to dump your own.

Also, do NOT turn off Hyper-V. That workaround is outdated. The current workaround is to keep it on.

Thanks for the help i will try to blacklist the GPU and test bouth V-Bios
