Unraid giving 169 IPV4

Featured Replies

Hello all, I have been racking my brain and can not figure this out. So I am trying to install unraid and it intalls and gives me a IPv4 address that starts with a 169 and no IPv6.

I know that my internet providers works off a double nat but I also know I have had them give me a Static External IP. I know this because its how I got plex to work.

Is the double Nat causing issues with setting up unraid? I have tried multiple ethernet cables and multiple ports on my router. I am also pluging directly into the motherboard ASRock X570M PRO4 AM4 AMD X570

Any help would be appreciated

Maybe just a bad connection. Check ethernet ports and cables. 169 means it can't get DHCP.

Do you have an attached monitor and keyboard?

Yes I have a keyboard and a monitor attached

There is no install. If you booted from the flash drive that is all there is to it. On the boot menu you can choose to boot into GUI mode or not.

Not important really. Did you check the cables and ports as suggested?

Yes i am using a known good ethernet cable and have updated my BIOS. Now i guess there is no way to confim if my motherboard is actually getting the internet connection as there is no OS installed.

Also I have the GUI mode pulled up now.

If you booted from the flash drive, you are already in the OS. It doesn't install from the flash drive. The OS always boots from the flash drive, and unpacks the OS fresh from the archives on flash into RAM at each boot. The OS run in RAM. Think of it as firmware.

As I said

I didn't mean it wasn't installed, I meant there is no installation to do.

There have been some reports of people getting better results booting in GUI mode with some hardware. If that is working for you then use it that way. Can you access the webUI from other computers on your network now?

You can make GUI mode the default by going to Main - Boot Device - Flash - Syslinux Configuration, and changing the default to GUI using the radio buttons, then apply.

I boted into GUI and went into the network preferences and found a 196 ip address. When I type this into a web browser i am able to view the webUI.

I am not able to go to the name of the server ex http://tower

Sometimes getting the server name propagated around the network can take some time. Many of us make Unraid the local master using the Dynamix Local Master plugin. You should install Community Applications plugin first then you can use it (the Apps page) to install any additional dockers and plugins.
