Thonthor Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Supermicro X9DRH-iF motherboard 2x Xeon E5-2620 cpu's (will be swapped as soon as new CPU's arrive) 64GB DDR3 1600MHz ECC RAM (Samsung M393B1K70DH0-CK0) 5x AOC-S2308L-Li flashed to IT mode I have a 36 bay Supermicro chassis with BPN-SAS846A backplane in the front, and BPN-SAS826A backplane for the rear bays. The BPN-SAS846A backplane have some issuses that i can't figure out. 10 bays do not recognize drives what so ever, i've tried swapping cables, HBA's, drives and even backplanes. I bought my server from theserverstore.com, and as soon as i told them about my backplane issues, they did extensive tests on another backplane to ensure it was working 100% before they shipped it out to me. I swapped backplanes, but the issue didn't go away, the same slots are not recognizing any drives Slots 0-7 are controlled by HBA #1, where slot 6-7 are not recognizing any drives. Slots 8-15 are controlled by HBA #2, where slot 8-9 & 12-15 are not recognizing any drives Slots 16-23 are controlled by HBA #3, where slot 22-23 are not recognizing any drives. I've tried everything, re-flashing HBA's, re-organizing drives, swapped out cables (supermicro certified ones), tested HBA's on differend PCI-e slots, and swapping out the backplane. I find it rather unlikely that the backplane should be bad, what are the odds of 2 backplanes having exactly the same issue with exactly the same ports. Could it be a bad CPU? Attached image shows what slots are working or not, blue dots = working, red dots = not working. Quote
