staunts Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 (edited) Hi all, so I have a HP N40L and bought it second hand 7 years ago. It's worked a treat using it for Windows Home Server. When WHS got discontinued I decided to look around and came across Unraid. And I'm now a big fan. I only use the server for the following: Pihole Storage of movies Storage of backups of my main PC using Veeam endpoint to a backup share Sync of my photos/movies etc from the main PC. So in theory, nothing critical as it's not my primary storage (except for the movies, but I would not cry over those if I lost them). I have a 4TB Parity drive, 2 x 3TB data drives and a 500GB data drive. The N40L seems to be working fine. And nothing I'm doing with it appears impacted. So , I suppose my questions is. Should I be upgrading at some point given its age, or do i just wait for it to die and remove the hard drives and put them in another machine and all will be good ? I'm leaning this way, but am happy to upgrade if recommended. I haven't a lot of experience with unraid (6 months). cheers, AS Edited May 12, 2020 by staunts Quote
