Help Backing Up Macbook, I want an alternative to Time Machine

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I had been using time machine to back up my macbook to my unraid server. Unfortunately, it has not been as reliable as i'd like for any number of reasons. To that end, almost every topic that I can find on backing up a macbook on unraid includes some advice on time machine. For that reason, I thought I'd ask here - what are some good alternative solutions?

I'm leaning towards Acronis but wanted to open up the discussion as i saw a docker called BackupPC that says it supports macs.

Have you looked at Carbon Copy Cloner?

It does what I need and I don't have that "Is my Time Machine backup going to fail just when I need it feeling."

one other question - as I'm deleting my Time Machine share and creating a new one - should I use the same settings I did for a time machine share for my new, 3rd party back up share? here are my settings:
