[Plugin] Plex Streams [Now supports Jellyfin and Emby]

Featured Replies

I saw the plugin was deprecated in action center, due to reports that this is not working. I am not having any issues with the plugin, even after un-installing/re-installing the plugin. I have a custom server defined with the LAN IP of my UNRAID server and port 32400 (i.e., 192.168.4.10:32400) and had no issues retrieving the plex token. Played some content through plex and refreshed the plex streams tab- no issues to report. How can we get this removed as deprecated?

  • I am planning a rewrite of this plugin, and will add that to the list of support besides also being able to support other media server platforms

  • This has been added as well as turning on/off the dashboard widget in 2020.05.20b.  If you turn it off you can access it through the widget or under Tools->System Information.

  • It does just work for MANY. Have you tried my suggestion yet? I definitely want to assist in getting this issue resolved for many, but as I stated it is the results coming back from Plex that are th

but this is still being maintained. @dorgan hasn't gone anywhere lol

Yup that’s right I am still here and I believe for most of us the plugin is working just fine. It’s when the plex instance isn’t registering with plex that there is an issue and I don’t know the circumstances that cause that. I just know that I can only work off the list of servers that comes back in my initial call to plexes server to get the list of servers.

Any idea why it shows 4 streams playing but only shows 3 playing? If I also add a second server it shows double the streams as 8 when only 4 are playing on the first server.

Rewrite coming

2026-08-22: I am starting a rewrite/optimization of this plugin, as well as looking at supporting both jellyfin and emby depending on whats possible.

Just reached out to squid to try and get the plugin added back into community apps, i've pushed an update today that includes some code optimizations and also some error handling in error scenarios for when failing to get a token from the plex api. I am committed to the community and tracking down why some users are not able to use the plugin, as well as starting the rewrite.

Latest version 2026.08.22a now has a debug option with debug logging, those of you having issues with the plugin if you could enable logging then try fetching a token, saving reloading the page, you should be able to safely send me the log and I can see if maybe that is showing the issues. By default any logging should mask tokens/keys showing only the last 4 digits, but please review before sharing with me.

Can you upgrade to todays release and see if you are still having this issue, also this output does not completely look like the output from my plugin but I do like it, did you add something extra as I would be happy to incorporate it into the output.

New look and feel has been released, and I am done for today. Hope everyone enjoys! Please let me know if any spots any issues.

OK couldn't help myself, added server details output to plex streams page, streams will now be grouped by server, as well as added dashboard widget layout option, default will show artwork, and condensed is more like previous output that displays times and titles without artwork.

ok GitHub CoPilot and rainy days FTW! just released 2026.08.22d which is adds server details expand/collapse section, UI cleanup, and audio/video stream details, client details. I think this will be the last of the new UI cleanup before I start looking at support for Jellyfin and Emby.

Suprise!!

Emby and Jellyfin support have now been added with todays release. Still waiting to hear back from Squid to get added back to community apps.

Hi @dorgan ,

I have updated to the latest version of the Plex Streams plugin (I'm a long time user and already had the very old version installed and was then prompted to upgrade).

There seems to be a visual/GUI bug where a light cyan line appears on the Dashboard when using the Dashboard widget (both standard and compact view).

I am using Brave Browser but have "shields" switched off when accessing unRAID.

I have attached screenshots showing the light cyan line on both of the Dashboard widget views.

Thanks.

Will try to look into this today

Looks like it only seems to be affecting "remote streaming" Users/sessions.

The extra coloured bar to the left is not displayed for local/LAN playback sessions.

Yes it a health indicator for the remote stream it will be that color if all is healthy, and yellow if its buffering. I will be pushing an update shortly for the display issue.
