Checked with Tom and it seems like a new event is unlikely (at least any time in the near future).

Just found out, though, that all mount points are automatically unmounted when a shutdown is in progress so no need for UD to do it explicitly just because the array is being Stopped (unless there is some specific reason that I have missed)!

Not surprised.  Tom has a full plate at the moment.

I prefer UD to do its own thing with unmounts.

A disk called My Passport.  It's sdi and there is no sdi in your system.  I do not see the disk in the list of disks in your system.  It's acting like the disk was removed before it was unmounted, but I don't see anywhere that the disk was mounted.  That disk or the USB port has a problem.  You probably will need to reboot the server to clear this up.

Did you have this disk in some sort of a drive bay?

Yea that drive is unrelated to the issue I'm having though.  That was a spare 1TB USB drive that I briefly had attached to try to move some data, but the drive was faulty.  The drives I'm trying to mount for this issue are "sdd, sde, sdf" and they are each 8TB drives.

There is nothing in the log that shows any attempt to mount a disk with UD.  How are you trying to mount the disks?

Normally I see a "Mount" button, but for these 3 drives, I only see a "Format" button.  I want to mount them in order to get the data off of them just like I have done with previous drives.

There doesn't appear to be a file system on those disks that Linux recognizes.

Yea nothing shows up in unraid for some reason, but when I boot into windows, those drives are just NTFS.

What type of NTFS? Simple basic? One partition per drive that covers the entire space?

Look in windows disk management and see, also try doing a disk check in windows, if the NTFS isn't perfectly healthy it probably won't mount in linux.

Here's a screenshot of the drives when I'm booted into windows.  It's the G, H, and I drives.  Each has one partition that covers the entire drive.

Hi there! :)

My "unassigned devices" hdd does not spin down automatically while the array devices spin down nicely (see attached image).

  • Cache Dir Plugin uses "include" folders as recommended.
  • Updated all plugins to the latest version.
  • All drives connected to the same HBA

you can spin down/up the array devices by clicking on the dot left to the disk#, could that functionality be added to the unassigned devices plugin where clicking on the icon does nothing. :)

This feature will be available in 6.9RC2.

This feature is available in 6.9RC1.

Oh, so the current "Spin down disks?" setting in the Unassigned Devices configuration will only start to work with 6.9 RC1?

Yes.

Yes.

So I just need to upgrade to 6.9RC1 to get that functionality. Guess I will check the thread about known issues in the RC and if it is worth to wait for the final.
Thank you!

Good thing I RTFM :D

Just update to the latest version of UD before you update to RC1 and reboot.

Thx I just read your reply in the 6.9RC1 thread! :)
But I guess I will wait for RC2 which fixes some spinup/down issues remaining in RC1?

This isn't your thread. It is the support thread for Unassigned Devices. Lots of people on this thread of 207 pages over the years.😉

Right, thread was the wrong word, I meant that someone else direct replied to my quote.

That did not happen either. ;)

I tried to mount an remote Synology NAS through nfs or smb and totally messed up wrong slashes and so on.... 😒

After that failed try my plan was to delete the share and do it better once again.

The deletion of the smb went fine but I am unable to delete the nfs share.

I tried to delete it with the red X, disable Auto Mount and delete it again, nothing worked. The Success Popup showed up every time but nothing changed.

Is it possible to delete this share with the command prompt?

The screenshot shows the current undeletable status

Thanks

I don't know where that inappropriate name came from, but UD can't handle that.  I'd like to try to understand how this happened.  It looks like your remote server gave some html code.

Please post diagnostics first, then delete the /flash/config/plugins/unassigned.devices/samba_mount.cfg file and reboot.

This will remove all of your remote mounts.

Hi guys, I've got UAD and UAD+ installed but running into a bit of a problem: I plugged in an external SSD that I formatted in ExFat and Fat32 - and every-time I try to copy files to it (inside Krusader) I get an error that the that there is not enough room on the disk even though my source is only about 500 MB.

Thanks for any guidance.
