And like you say, now I need to type the /mnt/remotes/  manually since I can't pick that anymore for my containers. Is this a bug or it going to be like this now?

The file picker is a bug and will be fixed.  The file manager is working like it always has (by design - not a bug) and if a change is made it needs to make sense.

I assume you got there from a disk or pool device?

Yes that was from my download pool SSD disk... I can try from Array

this is from Array disk:
Copy iso file to ...
And you can still see remotes

The file manager from a device is different than from User shares.  The one you showed me here is part of the file picker and I've got the fix for that.

Good to know :) So I can upgrade back to 7 again. You don't need me to do some tests?

No.  All good.  You showed me how you got there.

The file manager has never shown the /mnt/remotes/ folder

It did and still does if you access it from the icon in the top right of the page instead of "entering it" from a share.

Hi all,

I am new to this fantastic plugin and wanted to give a little bit of feedback from someone discovering Unassigned Devices for the first time:

- Despite the first few messages in this thread and the messages pinned, I could not find easily the information I needed regarding using scripts. I believe this is a feature that many users will be interested in and it would be worth in my opinion to cover it in a bit more details in the thread introduction.

- I am using the "clear" theme of UNRAID and with this setting the device configuration page is very confusing. Not sure if this can be changed but the first time I came to that page I saw under device script: "select the script or Default button". Problem is there was no default button showing unless I scrolled down, and there is no other indication. Since the script text input box has the same color as the background I got completely confused See screenshot).

- I tried to search into the 460 pages of this thread but I could not find any explanation of "user script" vs "device script"... Is this documented anywhere?

Sorry if I sound like ranting, I just wanted to illustrate that for new users like me this plugin feels a bit intimidating. And thanks for your help.

If you click on the setting text, you'll see the help text.  This is true for all of the Unraid settings pages.  You can also click the 'Help' icon in the upper right and it will display all the help text.

Oh yes, thanks, I should have thought about it...

The contextual help is very informative and basically answer my questions...

I'm having a spot of bother where I have 2 NVMe SSDs that I don't seem to be able to mount. I've tried deleting partitions, reformatting as various different filesystems etc but for some reason the mount button is always greyed out. Destructive mode is enabled in settings, and I can't see anything relevant that may be affecting this. Am I missing something obvious?

Click on the double arrows icon (arrows in a circle) to get udev to refresh the drives and you should then be able to mount the drives.

I have no idea how I missed that 🤦‍♂️

That's worked, thanks so much.

It's a quirk with nvme drives that I have yet to figure out.  You should not have to do that to get them to work.

I have attached an external USB HDD to my Unraid server. I mounted it with UD. I would like make this drive available to other computers on my network which are a mix of Windows and Linux.  I have enabled SMB sharing in the plugin settings, the settings are below:

SMB Sharing - Public

Case-sensitive names : Auto

force user=nobody : None

I still can't see this drive from any computer. Is there something else I need to do?

Those settings are generic to all UD devices.  You also need to go to the Device Settings (three gears icon) and turn on the share switch to share that device.

That was it, it worked! Thank you

Hello

Just getting started with UNRIAD and this script has been a great help so far. Thanks for sharing and maintaining it!

However, I have hit a bit of a road block and would be grateful for some help.

When trying to get the Photo Script by ljm4 to run it on mount I have added it to my User Scripts as shown below.

msedge_JE6yJUWobf.thumb.png.4dd3c27331fcf46e3fc85d2d3b86a4ce.png

However, when I go to add the script from the UD setting for that drive nothing seems to happen when I press 'Click here to select a Script File or 'Default' button for a Default' and even if I type in 'test' and then paste in my script it wont let me save.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Do this:

  • Click the default button.
  • Click "Save".
  • Now edit the dialog box and remove the default script.
  • Then paste in the desired script.
  • Click "Save".

I think I have encountered an issue with S3 sleep and UD.

Context: I have a script that runs on a remote esxi server that mounts a share via NFS and then runs a backup procedure

The script does quite a bit of error checking and retries infinitely when it encounters an error

Since updating to 7.0 the script fails after S3 sleep has occurred with permission denied.

Only way to make it work again is to go under UD settings and change the share to public, and then to private again.

Hello,

New to Unraid, looking to migrate off my Synology ecosystem. Just finished my build yesterday, everything seems to be running great EXCEPT... I'm encountering an issue trying to mount an SMB share from a second Synology NAS on my UNRAID server using the Unassigned Devices plugin. Just shows Offline and unable to mount. I have been troubleshooting for some time and could use some advice. Here's a detailed rundown of the situation and what I've tried:

Environment Overview

  • UNRAID Version: 7.0.0
  • UD Version: 2025.01.14
  • Synology NAS 1 "Backup" (Working):
    • SMB shares mount successfully from this device.
  • Synology NAS 2 "Plex Server" (Issue):
    • UNRAID cannot ping this device or mount its SMB shares.
    • Synology NAS 2 is accessible from other devices on the network.

Network

  • All devices (UNRAID and both Synology NAS devices) are on the same subnet and connected via the same UniFi switch.
  • Static IP addresses are assigned to all devices.
  • No VLANs or firewalls are enabled within the network.

Key Symptoms

Ping Behavior:

  • UNRAID cannot ping Synology NAS 2 ("Destination Host Unreachable").
  • Synology NAS 2 can ping the UNRAID server successfully.
  • Windows PC can ping Synology NAS 2 with no issues.

Synology Settings

I have painstakingly gone through every single setting/menu and compared the two devices side by side to make sure everything from SMB settings, security settings, network settings, user permissions, and share folder settings/permissions are identical aside from the physical addresses and names of the devices. The ONLY difference is that the one that is working is running a slightly newer version of DSM (7.1.1 vs 7.2.2) and therefore a slightly newer version of SMB service (4.15.9 vs 4.15.13).

SMB Connection Error:

  • Testing the connection from UNRAID's "Remote Server Test" results in:
Server '192.168.50.7' does not respond to a 'ping' - check Server Name or IP address
    Testing SMB...
Remote server 'SMB' port 445 is not open
** Remote Server is not online for SMB

Troubleshooting Steps Tried

Verify Network Configuration

  • All devices are on the same subnet with correct gateway settings.
  • Synology NAS 2 has no firewall enabled.

Verify SMB Service

  • Confirmed that port 445 is listening on Synology NAS 2.
  • Restarted the SMB service via Synology GUI.
  • SMB is enabled, and "Enable Local Master Browser" is also turned on.

UniFi Switch Configuration

  • No port isolation or VLANs are configured.
  • No switch-level firewall is enabled.
  • All devices (working or not) are connected to the same physical switch.

Tried mounting the share using both hostname and IP address in UNRAID.

I'm at a loss... Why is UNRAID unable to ping Synology NAS 2 when other devices can? Why does UNRAID report that port 445 is closed, despite the service being active? Are there any additional diagnostics or tools I can use on UNRAID to narrow down the issue?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated! If there's additional information I should provide, let me know.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
