Help passing through HD audio (AMD)

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to pass-through my HD audio (for 3.5mm jack)

IOMMU group 21:\[1022:1457\] 09:00.3 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. \[AMD\] Family 17h (Models 00h-0fh) HD Audio Controller

But I get an error in the log which states that " vfio: Cannot reset device 0000:09:00.3, depends on group 19 which is not owned. "

This is Group 19:

IOMMU group 19:\[1022:1455\] 09:00.0 Non-Essential Instrumentation \[1300\]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. \[AMD\] Zeppelin/Renoir PCIe Dummy Function

Not sure what the next step is?

You need copy-paste the whole group. You definitely skipped a few devices in that group. You need to pass through all of the devices in the group for it to work (ignore "PCIe" and "Dummy" devices).

Also, from past experience, I don't think the AMD onboard audio can be passed through. The one that can be passed through has reset issues.

Maybe try 6.9 bêta. There are a bug with amd and unraid for Audio Controller.
You can try to install custom kernel with patch.

Which bug / patch are you referring to?

The OP issue is hardware related. The only patch I'm aware of is for Vega / Navi graphics card and nothing with regards to the onboard audio.

I thought the error would stop the audio working completely, I haven't done the kernal modification yet because I wondered what would happen, seems like it works anyway in the VM so I'm not sure what the error actually refers to.
