[SOLVED] HDD will not power on in new server, powers up fine on the old server.

Featured Replies

I have an array of 2x 12TB and 2x 8TB.    I recently built a new machine and today I moved all the drives over.   This new PC is running 3900x with a EVGA 850 BQ Power Supply.  I have a LSI 9201 HBA/IT I'm using.   3 out of the 4 hard drives showed up normally.  One of the 8 TB drives was missing.  I troubleshot by trying different SATA ports on the HBA and Motherboard.  I then noticed the hard drive was not powering on properly when I touched it.   I tried several different SATA power cables, tried on it's on modular SATA power cable in the new server, no power.  I put the drive back into the old machine and it powered right up.  I also tried in a HDD Caddy and the drive powered on as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
