macOS Error 43: The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “Foo” can’t be found

Featured Replies

Whilst working with files on a Mac (Cataline 10.15.4), sometimes the finder windows will give me the error in the title when trying to copy or move something. The only solution seems to be forcing a restart of finder - after which it works perfectly for an hour or two before this issue rears its head again.

This is on Unraid 6.8.3, with 'Enhanced macOS interoperability' turned on.

Any idea where to start looking to narrow this down?

Not the answer you are probably looking for-- but have you googled the error message to see if you can find a solution that way.

You might also want to edit your first post to change the subject of the thread to include the information that the error message is coming from Mac Finder.  (Us Windows people can't be of much help here...)

Yes I have...

This happens to me all the time unfortunately. Usually relaunching Finder fixes the issue and then you remount the volume(s) again.
