RTX 2080 Passthrough of Onboard USB Controller - USB is Dropping randomly

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have passed through my 'entire' RTX 2080 card, which includes its USB controller to a Linux (Pop OS) VM. I used the VFIO-PCI plugin to generate/build the vfio-pci.fg file.

The video card and on-board audio pass through without issue. My keyboard and mouse are connected to the USB-C connection on the back of the card, and this is passed through as well and works some/most of the time. Note that everything in the vfio-pci.cfg flagged for passthrough is in the same IOMMU group.

What I'm getting is seemingly random freezes where the system will not recognize any inputs from keyboard, mouse, or from neither. Physically disconnecting and reconnecting will fix it for a while until it happens again.

I have not yet tried this on a Windows 10 VM but do plan to do this eventually.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to try to solve this? It's pretty aggravating.
