nadbmal Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 In 2018 or so when I set up my Ryzen 1700X based Unraid server I ran into an issue where the computer would randomly lockup after being idle. Somewhere I read that disabling C6 states by putting /usr/local/sbin/zenstates --c6-disable into my /config/go file would fix it and sure enough it did. It's been rock solid since then, I've gotten over >100 days uptime multiple times, only restarting for Unraid updates basically. But I believe this disables some kind of power saving features of the CPUs, so i'm wondering if it's ok to remove this line nowadays or if it's still a necessity? Ryzen on Linux was kinda new when I built this machine, but maybe it has matured by now? Would be nice to save a couple of watts... on the other hand "if it aint broke dont fix it" etc. 1 Quote
JorgeB Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 It should be fine to remove as long as "power supply idle control" is correctly set in the BIOS, see here: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/46802-faq-for-unraid-v6/?do=findComment&comment=819173 1 Quote
sonic6 Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) Hi, i am using an Opteron x3418 in my HPE Proliant Microserv Gen 10. Is this also and still relevant for an Bulldozer - Opteron X - Toronto Wiki with Unraid 6.9.0 RC2 and further versions? Edited January 4, 2021 by sonic6 Quote
