Missing SMB shares and slow Parity sync

Featured Replies

I really miss SMB shares they just disappered one day.  I have tried safe mode, rebooting, scrubing btfrs files nothing brings them back!!!

I have tried running crushftp server through secure webdav but that is slow.  Only 8-16mb.    I was getting 60mb with SMB.

The cache drive is still filling up either method which is weird and windows only sees TOWER and not the files.   The files are all there!

Also parity sync takes 16 days to finish, but I think it is because I am using external drives.  I want faster then 7.7mb Parity sync people say they get 90mb  on the forums.

Please help and give detailed instructions on how to fix this!  I have included my file to the forums.

Also unraid is not reading my new esata drive that is hooked to my pci card.

I need help please!  I've tried everything including safe mode and the shares wont come back!

Noting jumping out on the logs regarding shares, try redoing the flash drive, backup current one, re-do it, restore only super.dat and the key, both on the config folder, then check is shares are available and if not post new diags.

Any ideal why my parity sync is so slow?

USB drives are not recommended both for performance and reliability.

I'm sorry but I don't even want to try troubleshooting bad performance with USB drives, it would be mostly a waste of time.

nuking it didnt work

tower’s server IP address could not be found.

no shares under windows 10

Sounds like the usual Win10 SMB issues.  You should start by reading this thread.  Read the first page for the general SMB recommendations.   The most recent solutions to specific WIN10 problems can be found by reading backwards from the end of the thread.  (This is a never ending issue as MS keeps changing SMB settings to increase security in the corporate world.)

This site can’t be reached

tower’s server IP address could not be found.

Try running Windows Network Diagnostics.

You have four IP addresses assigned to the four Ethernet ports that Unraid sees:

192.168.1.18

10.10.10.12

10.10.10.13

 192.168.1.19

I am no networking Guru but they are  all static addresses so you must have had a hand in setting them up...

  • Author

Yeah one is for a 10gbe connection and one is for 1gb connection.

I can't even connect to tower anymore.  Tower is giving the wrong ip and I can't even connect to the web interface to get diagnostics.

  • Author

i reboot both computer tower works now and using 192.168 address.  I guess shares are working  it is showing the flash drive only under tower.

Do I have to remake the shares?  I lost my docker, plugin, and other settings doing this method.

You should really post up (in a new post) a new  set of Diagnostics.

  • Community Expert

IT could be because you have not set them up to be exported.  Or you have not started the array.

The reason being is that I am only seeing two shares in the Diagnostics report--   domains and isos

  • Author

I've started the array but my folders are missing.  Only the unraid drive shows in TOWER in smb

Click on the 'Shares' tab of the GUI and you should see something like this:

You can see that I have only two User shares that are exported.  I have three more shares that are not exported as they are used only in the operation of the Unraid server.

Start the terminal from the GUI  (It is the    >_    icon on the toolbar) and type the following command:

ls -al /mnt/user0

Copy the output and post it your next post.  Be sure to format the output as 'Code'  (The   </>  in the edit-post box of this forum.)  You should have something like this:

root@Rose:~# ls -al /mnt/user0
total 4
drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 75 Jun 1 09:23 ./
drwxr-xr-x 9 root root 180 Jun 1 09:13 ../
drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 281 May 13 17:09 Backup/
drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 273 Nov 6 2017 CommunityApplicationsAppdataBackup/
drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 4096 Aug 27 2019 Media/

i have two user directories  one user and user0   that don't seem right

  • Community Expert

That is right!  If I remember correctly, user0 has the shares that are on the array while user has all of the shares which includes the ones that are cache-only.

  • Author

Should I use user or user 0 for file transfers?

  • Author

ls -al /mnt/user0 shows my shares with 20 folders.
