May 27, 20206 yr Before using unraid i was using a synology nas. At some point i made backup on former hdds. For the backup the hdd used were in an usb enclosure plugged in the syno. They have been formatted with an ext4 partition. I have a problem with one of the hdd. Unraid can't mount it because the superblock can't be found. I tried with backups indicated in e2fsck command with no luck. The disk is a ST2000dm001-9YN164 with firmware CC4H when listing partition on this disk fdisk finds one : starts at 2048 end at 3907029167 sectors 3907027120 size 1,8T 83 linux I have 2 others ST2000dm001 which are mounting with no problems; but they are 1CH164 model with CC43 firmware. on these disks when listing partitions i find: start at 256 end at 3907024064 sectors 3907023809 size 1,8T 83 linux As all the disks have been partitionned in the same enclosure by dsm i think the partitions may have the exact same specs. (true at least for 2 of them). Is it possible to tell the defective disk to use the same specs as the others to try recover the partition? I tried to recover with testdisk (quick and deep search) with no luck
May 27, 20206 yr Both "start" LBA different 🤨 You try mount it by "Unassigned Devices" plugin ? Edited May 27, 20206 yr by Benson
May 27, 20206 yr Author yes i tried. ThE 9YN164 model doesn't mount the others yes. A partition is recognised but no superblock on the 9yn164. edit: i thought as all the disk had been formatted in the same conditions the partitions would normally start and end within the same lba.
