Advice on VMs and Docker.. a humble request

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Just thought I would post a few questions that I am trying to work out. Please let me know if these are doable / possible.

VM1 Blue Iris:

Windows 10

Pass through dedicated LAN port (isolated lan port for security reasons)

Pass through 4TB Purple HDD

Boot off an NVME unassigned drive

VM2 Download box:

Windows or ubuntu

Pass through dedicated Lan port (isolated lan for security to run its own VPN)

Store downloaded files somewhere on the array

Docker Plex:

Pass through P2000 for decoding

Pass through dedicated lan port

If there are any details missing, I am happy to provide / justify. I just need to get hold of some tutorials on how to achieve all of this. If there is a tutorial for each item, happy to watch, learn and implement, I just need someone to point me to them.

My AIO box is built on

ASRock Rack D1541D4U-2O8R

32GB non-ecc

8 platter HDDs in array

1 Parity HDD

1 unassigned HDD reserved for Blue Iris VM

1 1TB NVME cache drive

1 unassigned 256GB NVME reserved for OS for the 2 VMS

Yet to purchase the P2000,

I am hoping to use the single unassigned NVME for the 2 VM OSs via 2 seperate partitions.
