Unraid TB3 egpu vs m.2 nvme support

Recommended Posts

Gd day all.

I'm looking to upgrade my previous server setup.

The case I have is an Silverstone DS380B. Mini ITX limitation

https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=452#fgo-spec

With 8 3,5" hdd and 4 2,5" ssd, this means I really need that sata controller card I got.

LSI 9208-8I IBM 46C8989 8PORTS

CPU Ryzen 7 3700x

I am planning to use the server as plex media server with vm gameing capabilities.

This meens I require to connect a gpu somehow.

I am looking at the following motherboards

ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB3

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X570 Phantom Gaming-ITXTB3/index.asp

X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI (rev. 1.0)

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-I-AORUS-PRO-WIFI-rev-10#KF

Differences are 1st one have thunderbolt 3 connection <- gpu via TB3

2nd have 2 m.2 nvme connection <- gpu via m.2 nvme to pcie 16 as in the link

https://www.adt.link/product/R43SF.html

One option is to plugi the gpu on the motherboard pcie

And use two m.2 nvme to 5 sata port adapter as in the link

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T3RMFFT/?coliid=I1YYBO4Q1UA8X1&colid=36Q4O0OOPOV8&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

How well will this config be and what about support in unraid?

Is it plug and play useing any of the ideas for the gpu?

Which one to recommend?

I really need that gpu as the cpu don't have any internal gpu to setup my server and have all the things working.

Pls to hear.
