Unraid and Jriver Media server

Hi,

 

I was wondering if anyone would be using unraid to distribute music files? Here's my configuration and problem.  

I have a lot of files (>80.000) on the unraid server, which are in one smb share (music). I mount this share remotely on a mac Mini running Jriver. I run convolution so I don't want to have a media server on the unraid machine as the only option for that would be Roon and I don't want to pay $600.

But irrespective, even when it doesn't play and I just want to change a name etc... it might take 5 min or more.

Transfer of file to the server are fine, using a SSD cache before it gets written to the array every night. But Jriver media server is sooo slow that it's not really useable. My media library is on the mac Mini, only the files are on the server.

 

If anyone has an idea?
