bubbles87 Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 (edited) Hi All, I am wondering if there is a way to resolve the issues I am getting on disk 1 and parity disk 2. I have attached both SMART reports. The issue started after we had a storm come through last week and it knocked out the power for a few hours. I should have had it on a UPS but I haven't ordered one yet. Any help would be appreciated here. JorgeB Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Complete diagnostics would be better, but errors on 2 disks at the same time are usually not a disk problem, though both disks show a high number of recovered sectors, run a long SMART test on both. Quote
bubbles87 Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 Sorry for my ignorance but when I try to run an extended test it says "Errors occurred - Check SMART report". Any ideas? Quote
JorgeB Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 I forgot to mention that for SAS devices you need to run the tests manually: smartctl -t long /dev/sdX Quote
bubbles87 Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 Once the extended smart test is ran do I just download the report like usual from the web interface or do I need to name and save it from the command window? Quote
bubbles87 Posted June 3, 2020 Author Posted June 3, 2020 Attached are the reports from running the long smart test via command line. ST33000650SS_Z298AKAK0000C4033LU6_35000c500570c128f-20200603-0737.txt ST33000650SS_Z298AL5Y0000C4034ZHM_35000c500570bf22f-20200603-0737.txt Quote
JorgeB Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 SMART test passed on both disks, so currently they are OK. Quote
bubbles87 Posted June 3, 2020 Author Posted June 3, 2020 Is it likely there was writing to the disk that occurred when the power went out and that is what caused the errors? Quote
JorgeB Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Possibly, a power issue/fluctuation might cause read/write errors. Quote
