(Solved) Disk Read Error Help

Featured Replies

Hi All, I am wondering if there is a way to resolve the issues I am getting on disk 1 and parity disk 2. I have attached both SMART reports. The issue started after we had a storm come through last week and it knocked out the power for a few hours. I should have had it on a UPS but I haven't ordered one yet.

Any help would be appreciated here. Thanks

Complete diagnostics would be better, but errors on 2 disks at the same time are usually not a disk problem, though both disks show a high number of recovered sectors, run a long SMART test on both.

Sorry for my ignorance but when I try to run an extended test it says "Errors occurred - Check SMART report". Any ideas?

I forgot to mention that for SAS devices you need to run the tests manually:

smartctl -t long /dev/sdX

Once the extended smart test is ran do I just download the report like usual from the web interface or do I need to name and save it from the command window?

SMART test passed on both disks, so currently they are OK.

Is it likely there was writing to the disk that occurred when the power went out and that is what caused the errors?

Possibly, a power issue/fluctuation might cause read/write errors.
