New Unraid build - Could someone please check it before i spend a small fortune.

Hi Guys & Gals,

I am pricing up a new Unraid system for myself & i would really appreciate it if somebody could check over my parts list. Its the first time I've ever planned to spend such a large amount on a machine but its well needed at this stage and i want to make sure i have everything i need and that they will pair up with relative ease.

I am looking for an Unraid system for housing media, running a Plex server and a few dockers like home assistant, adblock and running a very fast Windows VM for gaming (budget constraining).

At the moment i have a ReadyNAS and a SFF Optiplex running Plex server (grabbing media over smb shares) and despite using this setup for 2 years its just grinding to a halt in terms of speed and performance. I've already tested out Unraid on another Optiplex 3020 and its exactly what i need when paired with the below specs (I hope). I didn't have a GPU at hand to test gaming but i did get most things tested.

I haven't listed out any spinning drives because i have a few WD Reds at home which i plan to put into the Unraid system. Below is what i have in my basket.

Note: I think i will hold off on this at the moment with the new 3900XT in the pipeline, just to see how much better it could be or to get a 3900x price drop.

You should go with 3200MHz ram instead of the 3600MHz. Your Ryzen 9 3900x will run great with 3200MHz and won't need to be overclocked. Your 3600MHz sticks will run at 3200MHz anyway unless you overclock them. It's generally not recommended to overclock ram for Unraid because it can bring instability. It's up to you though if it's worth the risk.
