steveeeb Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Hi, I've installed a trial version of unraid and am experiencing an issue, it could be misconfig, or misunderstanding (I'm a novice). I setup an array with a single party drive, three data drives and a 500GB SSD cache. The disks are exported as an SMB share to my Windows 10 PC. I did some testing last night, throughput was good until I filled the SSD - I understand why throughput dropped once it had filled. However, I had expected the data on the SSD to be moved to the spinning disks by the scheduler overnight. But this morning the SSD was still full and my write speed to the SMB share was really slow. I've tried running the "mover" manually - it doesn't appear to move any data to the spinning disks either.  I set the SMB share to prefer SSD for new files and directories. The parity disk was being created at the time - would that affect the "mover"? Anything else that I should check?  Thanks, Steve. trurl Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Cache-prefer means "prefer to keep the files on cache and if any overflow to the array, move them to cache when there is room". Â Go to Tools - Diagnostics and attach the complete Diagnostics ZIP file to your NEXT post. Quote
steveeeb Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 Thanks @trurl. I've changed the use cache option to be "yes" and it's doing what I wanted.  Thanks, Steve.   Quote
