New to Unraid

Hello,

I am new to the forum, and I am in the process of building an Unraid server 🙂.

I have recently upgraded my gaming PC and am using most the parts from my old PC to build the Unraid Server. Spec as follows:-

Motherboard: MSI Z77 Mpower

CPU: Intel i5 3570K Ivybridge

Cooler: Be Quiet

Memory : HyperX Genesis 8GB 1600Mhz (Looking to upgrade to 16GB)

SSD: Crucial MX500 500GB (Will use as a cache drive)

PSU: Corsair RM750 (Purchased for the server)

Case: Fractal Design Define 7 (Purchased for the Server)

I still need to purchase some HDD's, currently looking at Seagate Ironwolf's (8TB maybe).

I have a question about the cache drives, Is it possible to have one cache driver as the mover and another for the VM's and Dockers?

Looking forward to getting it up and running.

With the next release of unRaid, then yes.  Under 6.8.3 you would use the Unassigned Devices plugin to accomplish the same thing.

You can just use the user share settings to control whether the share gets moved from cache. The default for dockers and VMs has those staying on cache.

Thanks for the replies.

Ah I didn't know you could use a plugin, still new to all this 🙂

I'm looking forward to finishing the build and can explore it more thoroughly.
