January 5, 201115 yr Are any of the accounts listed in the /etc/passwd needed for any kind of backend processes or features? I did notice operator, mysql, gdm do provide shell access via telnet ( /bin/bash ) but I like to be anal on security and delete any NON-USED accounts running 4.6 unRAID
January 5, 201115 yr Those accounts should not have access - this is a bug and I will fix in 4.6.1. Version 5.0-beta does not have this bug.
January 5, 201115 yr unRAID 4.5.4 On a side note related to the same subject. I'm running ssh now becasue I was tinkering around with something else what would be the best method to shutdown say telnet or whatever else we deem not to our liking? I'm guessing /etc/inetd.conf What would be the best way to make sure its disabled everytime? I'm not really needing telent or ftp.
January 6, 201115 yr Author yea just comment out the ftp line in /etc/inetd.conf then restart via "/etc/rc.d/rc.inetd restart"
