unRAID security?

Are any of the accounts listed in the /etc/passwd needed for any kind of backend processes or features?

I did notice operator, mysql, gdm do provide shell access via telnet ( /bin/bash  :P) but I like to be anal on security and delete any NON-USED accounts

running 4.6 unRAID

Those accounts should not have access - this is a bug and I will fix in 4.6.1.  Version 5.0-beta does not have this bug.

unRAID 4.5.4

On a side note related to the same subject. I'm running ssh now becasue I was tinkering around with something else what would be the best method to shutdown say telnet or whatever else we deem not to our liking? I'm guessing /etc/inetd.conf

What would be the best way to make sure its disabled everytime? I'm not really needing telent or ftp.

yea just comment out the ftp line in /etc/inetd.conf then restart via "/etc/rc.d/rc.inetd restart"
