Parity Disk Read Errors

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Unraid and have run into a weird issue I cant seem to figure out.

Running on a Dell R710, I have 2x 8TB SAS drives and 4x 3TB SAS drives installed.

One of the 8TB drives in my parity drive. For some unknown reason when a parity check happens the parity drive right at the end gets reports 155,540 read errors.

I thought that this might be because I was using second hand drives, the place I purchased from provided two replacement 8TB drives and I swapped out the parity drive, same issue exists.

I've used both replacement drives in place of the parity drive and it always reports 155,540 read errors.

I'm at a loss. . . I've replaced the cables and raid card as well to troubleshoot and same results.

Diagnostics attached.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Disk is formatted with type1 protection, if you Google that you'll find how to remove it.

Thanks for the quick reply johnnie.black

I've run

sg_format --format --fmtpinfo=0 /dev/sdb

Hopefully it does the trick!  **fair warning for anyone reading this, the above command will WIPE your disk!**
