Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anyone tried the external 14tb WD External drives on unraid?

Would there be any problem using them?

Cheers

Do you mean shucking them and using them in unRAID array or using them as an Unassigned Device?

I shuck and use WD 8TB external drives in my array.  They work just fine.  I also have a 14TB external still in the enclosure that I use as an unassigned device for backups of array contents; also works great.

The 14TB external drive should be fine for any use with unRAID.

Hi Hoopster

I was thinking about shucking it and using in unraid but i am also thinking of using it to backup my media to the 14tb external drive.

my case has 3 drive bays so have a couple of options

Option 1   14tb parity drive then 2*6tb HDD for media.

Option 2  No parity 2*6tb and 1*4tb for media then use the 14tb external as another backup

I only have 5tb of used media at the moment.

Whatever you decide, it should work without issues.
