(SOLVED) Supermicro A2SDi-4C-HLN4F & RAID/HBA Card Question

Recommended Posts

I have the Supermicro A2SDi-4C-HLN4F motherboard. Based on how I am reading this it only supports up to 8 SATA devices shared between the PCIE lane and the onboard SATA ports. Am I reading this right?

1 PCI-E 3.0 up to x4 (in x4 slot) *Number of PCI-E lane is configurable via BIOS setup: 0, 2, or 4. Total combined PCI-E lanes and SATA ports is up to 8.

Question:  If I add the x4 lane PCIE SuperMicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 Raid card or any other x4 lane PCIE HBA/RAID Card , 1 will it work and  2. will I get 8 extra hard drives on top of the 8 supported by the motherboard?

Many many thanks

Yes, but you should avoid the SASLP as it has various known issues with Unraid.
