OfficeSubmarine Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 I am trying to upgrade my parity drive from a 4tb drive to an 8tb then add the 4tb drive as a data drive. I've read some threads where they talk about creating a new config and then restoring the parity, but could i not just spin down and reassign the parity drive to the 8tb drive and then leave the 4tb drive out of the array while the parity rebuilds? Sorry for bringing this back up, I just don't want to accidentally wreck my array. Thanks. Quote

OfficeSubmarine Posted June 11, 2020 Author Posted June 11, 2020 So according to that do I stop the array, assign "none" to the parity. start the array, then stop the array, then assign the new 8tb drive to be the parity drive? Quote

You can just upgrade current parity first and when that's done add the old parity as a data disk, alternatively you can a new config to do both things at the same time (though with some increased risk).
