jms2321 Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 I have been using the onboard SATA connections on my Supermicro H8DGU motherboard. And have 3 10TB drives (1 Parity, 2 data) with a 240GB SSD cache. Under heavy load, the system disk subsystem bogs down (mover running, handbrake conversion, uploading large video content). I have a 10Gb Fiber connection that is not even coming close to saturation between my desktop and Unraid server. So I am looking to slap an HBA into the box and open the pipe as it were to increase my disk subsystem io. I know I will need to flash whatever LSI type of HBA to IT mode. But once I have installed the hba, will I need to do anything else. I am not adding any devices, just changing the data path. Of course a back up will be taken of the data drives. Jim Quote
Michael_P Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 What throughput are you getting now? That small of a pool will probably not benefit from moving to an HBA Quote
jms2321 Posted June 12, 2020 Author Posted June 12, 2020 I am topping out at about 150MB/s. The main reason is the sata ports are sata I topping out 150 rate. The drives are WDC 10TB Red and a 240GB SSD tower-diagnostics-20200611-2157.zip Quote
